Teams selected from our U10 and U12 Boys and Girls went to contest the Oxfordshire round of the In2Hockey competition this weekend. For the first time, OHC hosted this and used Tilsley for it. The Junior volunteers produced a fantastic festival so thanks to all of them but the players were the real stars.
We were delighted with the U10 Girls, after a shaky start they performed brilliantly to come back and earn a place in the Finals against a very strong Henley side. Henley pipped them but both teams now go to the South Central Regional Finals in April.
After this, the coaches were just in dream territory. The U10 Boys were across the grandstand at Tilsley and reversed the girls decision by beating Henley and winning their tournament. The U12 Boys only conceded 1 goal across 5 games and scored 17. I think they may have enjoyed their 5-0 win over Hawks in the Semis !
The U12 Girls were highly fancied after a 100% record this season but Henley again pushed them really hard. OHC came through after a tense flick competition.
All 4 of our teams are now heading to "Regionals". This was an awesome performance from our teams.
Some of Juniors volunteers may sometimes question why they get up every sunday to coach the kids who are sometimes turning various shades of blue. Last sunday is the answer to that question. We love it !
